Markus Roth is Professor for Civil Law, Labour Law, German and European Business Law at the University of Marburg. He was educated at the University of Constance and in practice at the Hanseatic Court of Appeals in Hamburg. Before joining the Faculty of Law in Marburg in 2009, he was research fellow at the Max Planck-Planck Institute for Private Law in Hamburg (2002-2008) and visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge (2008).
His main research interests are comparative Corporate Governance, company law, partnership law and the law of private pensions. He is co-editor of a multi-volume commentary on the German Stock Corporation Act (Großkommentar zum Aktiengesetz, fifth edition).
